~Happy New Year To You~

I wish only the best in 2010 for all of my fellow bloggers. I hope your year is filled with promise, good health, love and the companionship of good friends! I'm including a few quotes and a little humor to celebrate the new year. Have a wonderful holiday!

Quotes

An optimist stays up until midnight to see the new year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.
Bill Vaughan

One resolution I have made, and try always to keep, is this: To rise above the little things.
John Burroughs

May all your troubles last as long as your New Year's resolutions.
Joey Adams

We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day.
Edith Lovejoy Pierce

Cheers to a New Year and another chance for us to get it right.
Oprah Winfrey

Humor

Twas the Month after Christmas
The following was shared by surfer Cathy W. on www.humormatters.com

'Twas the month after Christmas, and all through the house,
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.

The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste,
At the holiday parties had gone to my waist.

When I got on the scales there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber).

I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared,
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared.

The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese,
And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please."

As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt,
And prepared once again to do battle with dirt.

I said to myself, as I only can,
"You can't spend a winter disguised as a man!"

So--away with the last of the sour cream dip,
Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip.

Every last bit of food that I like must be banished,
'Till all the additional ounces have vanished.

I won't have a cookie--not even a lick,
I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.

I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie,
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.

I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore,
But isn't that what January is for?

Unable to giggle, no longer a riot,
Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!

Happy 2010!

I hope 2010 is healthy and full of love for you and your family.

I plan on decluttering this year and hopefully finding my way out of the full time work force and back home..at least part time. I am so missing being rested, and having time for family, friends and things I love.

Instead of a Happy New Year, may be I'll say a Happy January to you, - I hope the poem is not true:)
