Dog Days of Summer Update

OMG - It's August and it's been way too long since I updated my personal blog. I hope everyone is enjoying the summer months. We've spent most of the time working around the house doing projects that have been on our "to do" list.

It's been an unusual summer either rainy and wet or hot and humid in the Chicago land area. My upside down tomato planters and my petunia planters were swinging in the wind during the summer thunderstorms. One of the tomato plants was severely wind damaged but the other ones survived and the first plum tomatoes ripened this week. I am not a gardener so the fact that they survived the summer under our care is a miracle.

We also took a weekend getaway to Starved Rock State Park. We took a late afternoon cruise on the Illinois River and then had a candlelight dinner in the lodge. It was a really relaxing time!

We took a few photos and of course, the tour included a trolley ride from the lodge to the riverfront. I love paddle boats! They are so cute and it's like stepping back in time with Steve and I cruising along! I also captured the still shots of a flying carp in action on the river via the Flip video my husband shot on the cruise. Enjoy a few of the photos below. See you on the blogs!

That fish shot is amazing! What a catch. Welcome back. I've been a little slack myself. Still, I enjoy reading all my blogger friends' adventures. Glad you had a wonderful time.
